Overview
Southsea Marina sits in Langstone Harbour on the eastern side of the island, and it is a different job from the Portsmouth Harbour side. Boats here sit more exposed, and the covers have to be specified for it.
The seafront terraces bring the other half of the work: refurbishment scaffolds that face straight into the Solent and need real weather protection rather than sheeting.
Local focus
Marine leads. Southsea Marina and the Eastney hard standing are exposed to the prevailing south-westerly with very little shelter, so we specify heavier gauge and pay more attention to the frame and the base skirt than we would on a sheltered berth. Get that wrong here and the cover is in the hedge by January. On the seafront, salt-laden wind is exactly what welded film is for.
