A purpose-built, tightly sealed shrink wrap enclosure around a scaffolded work zone, so sandblasting could take place immediately alongside the water.
The challenge
Sandblasting is one of the most demanding applications for temporary containment. Abrasive blasting produces large quantities of dust, debris and spent abrasive, and the enclosure has to control it while staying secure for the full duration of the works. Positioned directly beside the water, separating the blasting zone from the surrounding environment was especially important.
How we approached it
Heavy-duty shrink wrap was installed across the scaffold structure, fixed securely and heat-shrunk to form the enclosed workspace. The film was worked carefully around scaffold uprights and edges to get a tight finish across both the roof and the sides of the enclosure — a fitted envelope rather than loose sheeting that can open up during blasting.
The outcome
A tight, durable, dedicated containment area for the blasting works, holding dust and debris within the designated zone and keeping the wider site separate from what was happening inside.
