Shrink wrap enclosing the base of an Imperial College London building — along the elevation and in under the entrance canopy, behind Imperial’s own branded hoarding.
The challenge
A university building does not close for works. Students, staff and visitors walk past and in through the entrance all day, so the work zone had to be sealed off completely while the building carried on around it. The wrap also had to sit alongside the client’s own branded hoarding and look like part of a properly run site, not a temporary eyesore at the front door of one of the best-known universities in the world.
How we approached it
The enclosure was built along the base of the elevation and carried in beneath the entrance canopy, heat-welded into one continuous skin and shrunk tight to the frame. Keeping the finish clean and square mattered as much as the seal — it sits directly above Imperial’s hoarding and in full view of the entrance, so every edge and termination was dressed as a visible face.
The outcome
A sealed, clean white enclosure running the length of the work zone and in under the canopy, sitting neatly above the Imperial hoarding while the building stayed in use around it.
