It is not the right answer for every job, and an installer who tells you otherwise is selling rather than advising.
Use it when
- Machinery is standing idle through a shutdown or roof replacement
- Plant is going into storage between contracts
- Equipment is being relocated and needs sealing before and after the move
- Abrasive blasting or painting needs a sealed containment zone
- Part of a building must be separated from the working area
Skip it when
- The asset is in continuous daily use
- It is indoors, dry and dust-free already
- The job needs a permanent enclosure — build a building instead
How industrial shrink wrap is installed, step by step
This is the part that separates a cover that lasts from one that fails in its first storm. Each step exists for a reason, and the reason is given with it.
Survey the asset or zone
Dimensions, access needs, how long it will stand and what it needs protecting from — weather, dust, or contamination going the other way.
Decide the frame
Robust assets can take film directly. Delicate or instrumented equipment gets a freestanding frame so nothing touches it.
Pad and protect
Sharp edges and fragile components are padded so the film cannot puncture on them.
Hang and weld
Film is hung and heat-welded into one continuous skin with no taped joints.
Shrink
Heated evenly until it pulls tight to the frame or asset.
Ventilate and dry
Vents are placed and desiccant added for the volume and standing time. This is what stops corrosion.
Fit access
Zipped panels and hatches go where people will actually need to get in.
Hand over
Photographs and a record of what was sealed and where the access is.

How much does industrial shrink wrap cost?
There is no honest rate per square metre, because film is the cheapest part of the job. These are the things that actually move the price.
A quote worth trusting is fixed after survey, with removal priced in from the start and travel shown as its own line. If it says “subject to access”, it is not a price.
